A. You put your right hand in, you put your left hand in You grab the hand that's offered and that's how it all begins You swing your partner round and do it all again That's what it's all about You put your left foot in, you put your right foot in You dance as though you mean it and you share a little grin A little hanky panky and you turn yourself around That's what it's all about B. Cuz we are daanncin, dancin with each other And we are siingin, singin for the pleasure Exercising right, Exercising left Doin what we want to do To swing around together (Instrumental break) A. You raise your right hand up You raise your left hand up You stand for your beliefs When you need to stand up You look and find each other And you nod and gather round That's what it's all about You're marchin toward the light and you're singing with your kin You get knocked down and you do it all again You shake yourself off and look yourself around That's what it's all about B. Cause we are maarrching There for one another Holding haannds, singin with each other Exercising rights Exercising lefts Following the footsteps With our sisters and brothers (Instrumental break) (Repeat last verse and chorus) (Chanted) You get beat down and you don't give in You get beat down, that's how it all begins Exercise your lefts, exercise your rights That's what it's all about That's right That's what it's all about Uh-huh That's whaaat it's alll a-bout

You ever tried something And you just can't get it right? Over and over and it makes you uptight? Well here's a little ditty ... For you and you and you Get a little daylight and you’ll see your way through When... Mozart wrote his symphonies Seems they came out like a breeze But even Mo-zart went on his knees When he got it mostly right What’s that you say? If you feel you need to get something ju-u-ust right But it keeps going ju-st wrong Take a little time. Get a little daylight and you’ll feel it alright When Hannibal crossed the mighty Alps, When his elephants were nothing but toddling whelps, ... Before his troops took any scalps, ... He took a little time. Got a daylight And said “It’s alright “ "Try this one." When Olivier played a Shakespearian role, Before his Hamlet could unfold, His king's speech so eloquently told That he took a little time Got a little daylight And said to himself: To BE, or not to be: that is the question. To be, or NOT to be: THAT is the question. To be...or... not...to be... ...that is the question. There are so many examples who we admire Their stars shining, their names afire We didn't know they too aspire Let’s hear it… As they took a little time Got a little daylight And said, “well alright “ So I took my daughter out to drive, ... She was parallel parking, at least she tried... I'll fail my driving test she cried. Honey, sweety.. you're gettin closer. Each time you do it, something's going right! Just… take a little time Get a little daylight And you’ll be alright When perfection eludes you Take a little time Get a little daylight And you’ll feel all-right And when you doubt it all Take a little time Get a little daylight And you’ll say “Alllll Right!”

My goodness you're a looker Said the beets to the plum Ripe and kinda purply-blue Said the plum to the beets You're so sweet And purple's my favorite color too Rosemary, said her Sage Why not get engaged In that pot of boiling vindaloo Join Curry and Cumin It'll be so human Spice Girls make a bubbly stew The farmer in the dell knew her crops as well As any local Jack or Jim But she couldn't hear em singin As they were still clingin To each other as she snapped their stems B part You know Vermont's got a lot of vegan farmers And their intentions are mostly true But if they knew their planters As well as Bernie Sanders They might learn a thing or two Yes Vermont's got a lot of vegan farmers Their boots get muddy in the rain But when it freezes over Snow blankets all their clover There isn't much for them to really gain So they close up all their windows Stoke their fires nice and hot Go beneath the covers Whisper to each other Like the veggies they just cooked in a pot So the moral of this story If you really need a moral Is it al-ways takes two To make a conversation If you're really a real person And even if you're not a plum will do Even if you're not a plum will do

Get the earwax outa your ear Said Santa to the elf We got too many packages yet to deliver And you're totally into yourself I've already told you about this job If you don't like it go where you must The wind's coming up, there're chimneys to climb And my balance I no longer trust Said the elf to the Claus I ain't your dumb servant I told you before that I'm not So get yourself stooges that'll do what you want You wont get me to move from this spot Said Santa to elf, I don't like what you say I can't keep firing the help And if you don't heed what I tell you to do These kiddies will lose and I'll have your damn scalp I'll seriously take your scalp Said elf to Santa you're such a bore Year after year it's the same Get yourself reindeer you silly old man Stop complaining to me that you're lame And with that he bolted, ne'er to return Left Santa perched on the roof Thinking Humpy Dumpty had a great fall And my goodness, I'm living proof! SPLAT!

When you keep your cow in the barn Don’t forget to milk her in the morn And when you feed your horses hay and oats Don’t forget to also feed the goats I can’t teach you everything I know Don’t waste my time you so-and-so Stop asking questions you’re so slow You’ve just got to learn it on the go When you go back there and cut the hay Don’t waste your time there all day And when you put the stones in the brook Don’t forget you have to help me cook I can’t teach you everything I know Don’t waste my time you so-and-so Stop asking questions you’re so slow You’ve just got to learn it on the go When you cook a meal in the pot Don’t forget to serve it nice and hot And when you sweep the scraps from the floor Don’t forget to throw them out the door I can’t teach you everything I know You’ve just got to learn it on the go Don’t waste these people’s time you crow It’s way past time we get on with the show credits released November 6, 2013 license

Took my daddy to the circus Saw the lions and the bears Ate some cotton candy And threw up on the chairs There were elephants and clowns And a lady in a corset Costume movin as she Snapped her whip above the horses They even launched a munchkin Launched him from a cannon How’d they ever do that How’d they make it happen Got home and dreamed about the colors and the lights I’m still dreamin It’s been fifteen thousand nights! Now I take my kids They think it’s really somethin' No lions or bears Or cannons shooting munchkins They still have grumpy clowns And they still have lots of colors And they still have cotton candy As they re-mind one another

We think of ourselves as movers and shakers We build tall buildings and dig under acres Our machines are marvels at hauling freight But have you ever tried to lift your own weight? If you can’t… consider the ant Ants are amazing… They chop up leaves They carry sticks… They chew down trees They compost dead plants… and they aerate the soil And they don’t break a sweat despite backbreaking toil Dit-di-dit-di-dit-dit-da, Dit-di-dit-di-dit-dit-da No matter what happens ants will always be with us To crawl and alarm and even seem vicious They get in our socks, they get in our food It’s not hard to see how they get us unglued Some are quite harmless, some are quite bad Their sting is like fire, they march through the land Now I’ll tell you a story I bet you can’t beat It’s OK, I’ll wait… go get something to eat ....... ........ ....... It’s a true story I swear to you Bob I wish I’d snapped pictures, I looked like a slob My face was all grimy, my feet were swelled up My sneakers were slimy, I couldn’t stand up You see where I was was the Amazon forest I felt very brave, was an adventurous tourist Hiking through thickets, hiking through mud Chopping at branches, leaches sucking my blood Each day we'd get through we'd get through by chance But one night when I slept in my nice grubby pants Yes one night when I slept in my nice grubby pants I found in the morning they’d been eaten by ants My skin was intact my flesh was not eaten But this was enough I felt totally beaten My legs showed through like in fishnet stockings Carried my pride as I had to keep walking We were deep in the forest, there were monkeys and snakes Creepy crawlies that gave me the shakes I never imagined setting out on my trek That the risk I'd be risking would be under my neck No I never imagined that my old cotton pants Would be the delicacy chosen by ants So the next time you see them crawl on your floor Climb up the counter or sneak through the door Consider how you’ll get rid of this pest Will you trap it or crunch it or smoke out the nest Or do you believe in re-incarnation Perhaps this fellow‘s a distant relation Whatever you do… if you kill it, or can’t Use this small moment to consider the ant

about

Stephen Scholle Hartsdale, New York

Picked up guitar in 1967. Began writing songs in 09 after a breakup. TY to Fred Gillen, Burr Johnson, Peter Calo and the Ashokan music community for supporting my passion. I write from the chord voicings and I write from the voice inside. Some songs channel moments. Sometimes words just sound good. I like to let the song speak and I like to work with others on that.
