lyrics

You live in a certain music you live in a certain charm
You hear new possibilities that surprise and disarm
You wait as the rhythm molds to your soul
And you want to dance your fingers over fretboard and soundhole

It’s simply a box of wood with shapely curving grace
Softwood over hard all internally braced
The fingers play a neck that’s long even for a giraffe
Yet on any string they land they’ll find a C, a D, an E and an F

There are Gibsons and there’re Taylors and there’s Martins and there’s Guilds
And there are some wonderful small makers who will customize your build
You live in a certain music you live in a certain charm
You hear new possibilities that surprise and disarm

You listen for the resonance that makes your insides whole
And you want to dance your fingers to the rhythms of your soul

about

Stephen Scholle Hartsdale, New York

Picked up guitar in 1967. Began writing songs in 09 after a breakup. TY to Fred Gillen, Burr Johnson, Peter Calo and the Ashokan music community for supporting my passion. I write from the chord voicings and I write from the voice inside. Some songs channel moments. Sometimes words just sound good. I like to let the song speak and I like to work with others on that. If you'd like, get in touch. ... more
